I would love to hear more about PR teams!  How do you get started with them?  What discount do you offer to your PR peeps? How often do you change your team in order to have “new blood”?

I have more questions concerning them, but don’t want to overwhelm anyone with them all at once!

I almost hesitate to share my why because it sounds so much like yours!  I have learned , though, that your why can change over the course of time.

Original why: to save money by making my own stickers

I purchased a Silhouette 3 years ago when I decided I wanted to try my hand at making my own stickers.

How I wish your design course had been around back then!  I watched all the YouTube videos I could find on designing in Silhouette Studio, but there was still so much that I had to teach myself.

Even through hundreds of hours of discovering the best way to design a kit (and more importantly, the things NOT to do when designing a kit), I didn’t get discouraged because I loved the outlet for my creativity!

I started my shop with the idea that one day I would like to be making an extra $200 a month with my business. After a year in business, I have paid for my new iPad Pro (bought in late December) and have been paying back my “loan” for the graphics to use in designing stickers.  (I use the word “loan” because I used funds from my husband’s and my joint checking account to purchase the graphics/licenses/subscriptions I needed for my business. My husband doesn’t care if I reimburse our personal account or not, but I do!) That loan is almost paid off, too, so perhaps I need to set a new goal for myself.

Current why: it’s my creative outlet (I have SO many craft supplies just laying around now that I found what I really want to create) AND a way to pay for some of the extras in life

    Kim,

These are gorgeous! I have never done a photo kit, but looking at this makes me want to try 🙂

    Brittany,

Sorry you have had nothing but problems with your Cricut. I have a love/hate relationship with my Cameo 3. Some days I am amazed as I watch it kiss cut a variety of stickers on one sheet, and other days I want to throw it out the window!

That being said, I haven’t given up on creating stickers even on the worst days.  When things go wrong (and they will), I have to step away from the Cameo and focus on something else. I have found the solution to most of the problems I’ve had with my Cameo just by searching on YouTube.

I hope that you have a much better experience with your Cameo than you’ve had with the Cricut!

Hi all! I’ve been a fan of Rachel’s for a while now, so was very excited when she announced the course.  Although I have been making planner stickers for a while now, I know I will learn many new things through this course.  I also wanted to support Rachel who has generously shared her knowledge through her YouTube channel.

I’m Fran, and definitely the “most adult” member of the group to introduce herself so far.  I’m 65, a retired educator of 38 years, a wife of nearly 43 years, a mom to two of the world’s most amazing women, and Nana to 3 boys ranging in age from 2 to 15.

I have been a planner for decades now (started eons ago with the Franklin Planner) but it wasn’t until my older daughter introduced me to planner decorating that I found my newest obsession: creating stickers. I purchased a Silhouette Cameo 3 three or four years ago and have been making stickers ever since.

I finally took the plunge and opened my Etsy shop last year after spending countless hours teaching myself how to do much of what I do with Silhouette Studio.  I love the planner community and look forward to learning more along with all of you!

    Hi Janet!

It’s always best to have the actual planner in front of you to measure, but if you ordered a classic vertical Happy Planner, the box width is the same as Rachel has been demonstrating:  1.5″.  The boxes are just a bit longer than the Erin Condren, though.  I have been using 1.5 x 2.25″ as the dimensions for full boxes when I design for a Happy Planner and they fit well.

    Hope this helps!

    Fran
