The only problem with their ads feature is that you are competing with everyone else and they take a good chunk of your money. Say someone clicks on a competitor but found you, they still charge the ad fees because you were “found” through ads whether they were yours or not. And if you sell over $10,000 a year, you have no choice but to be in it, which I don’t like.

I started building my Shopify site the last couple weeks. I’m almost done with it, and I’ll be ready to launch. Figuring out traffic will be the hard part.

Thank you! Glad I could contribute.

I’m seriously scared when the holidays come. I know I can do at least 25-30 sheets a day with this one machine by myself, but I don’t know what I’ll do if there is more. And I’m terrified because I’m on Etsy, Amazon Handmade, Goimagine, and will be adding Shopify soon. Don’t get me wrong, it’s exciting, but my anxiety is through the roof.

I’ll be honest. I personally think it would be easier for everyone because we’ll get notifications. I know we do here, too, but we have to log in to the forums to see new posts. (Unless I’m missing something, lol.

But I’m not picky either way 🙂

I’m using the online labels removable and permanent matte. It’s not cutting very deep. I look at the back and you can’t even see a line or anything where it cut. I have my force set at 1, so most of the sticker gets cut. It’s just random tiny spots around each sticker that has the backing stuck to it. It’s almost like those spots don’t get cut all the way. I tried increasing my force to 2, and it’s still doing it.

When I switched the blade, it seemed like it was doing it perfectly because I used my stickers after cutting with the new blade. After a few cuts, it’s like it isn’t cutting in teeny tiny spots. I can still remove the sticker, but it needs to be done slowly around the other side of it so it isn’t torn.

I have the same exact issue with my Cameo 4. The only difference is that my Cameo 4 cuts to far to the left at the bottom. I’ve contacted Silhouette, gone through their whole process of “tests” and wasted tons of ink and paper going through those tests. They continue to have me go through these tests, and it’s been over a month.

So I’ll tell you that calibration or distance adjustment DID NOT work for me. I’ve tried it several times.

As a workaround, until I’m finished with their “tests” and they send me a new machine, or I just get fed up, move the cut line itself. So when you’re doing your design, move ONLY the cut line. So if yours is cutting too far upwards, then move your cut line down and leave the actual design where it sits. It depends on how far upward it’s cutting to tell how far down to move your line. So that part you will have to judge it. For me, I have to move my cut line over 3 or 4 clicks when I’m zoomed in. Once I did that, they come out perfect.

I can also tell you that the smaller my designs are, the worse it is.

I believe that something is wrong with my machine, and I’m waiting on Silhouette to replace it. I’ve even replaced my blade to see if that had anything to do with it. So check your blade to make sure there aren’t any cracks or that it isn’t chipped.

So I did recalibrate mine, and it still didn’t work. I’ve already contacted Silhouette help, and they’ve given me loads of things to do, but it’s still doing it. I’m thinking it’s a bad machine, but I’m not the maker of it, so I don’t really know. It’s still only the lower right quadrant of the page that’s doing it.

Okay. I’m going to do that now. Hopefully, I don’t have to do this too often. Thank you!

So I’m going to try to explain this further. I load the mat into the machine. While it’s cutting, it seems fine on the entire left side and right side. But the lower middle portions of the sheet, it’s like it’s cutting too far to the left no matter what I do. So basically the lower right quarter of the page is funky. I started to calibrate, but the website said if it isn’t the entire sheet that’s off, then calibration is not the issue. Maybe I need to contact Silhouette themselves.

Yeah, too late for that order. But I just got 2 more yesterday. I finally figured out that I only needed one pass through after about 6 sheets of paper. But it’s figured out now, and I shouldn’t have to worry about it again from now on.

I knew that the little cleaning thing was in there. I was able to get the paper out, but it just kept happening until I realized that the settings were way too high for that paper.

So I think I have it figured out for now. Since my orders seem to be picking up already, I’ve already ordered a ton more sticker paper. Now, I just need to get a spare blade and extra printer ink. I suspect that sales are going to start picking up for everyone, especially stickers because of back to school and holidays.

    Thanks!

Oh, okay. LOL. I found one on The Hungry JPEG, but that was it. I get it now.

I might consider that one of these days, but the machines and paper cost a pretty penny. Not to mention I just had like 3 orders in the last couple of days, which is exciting! Plus, I ordered a Happy Planner to get the sizes from that planner, too. Ugh, so much to do!

Thank you for all you do!

in reply to: What is your WHY? #26230

My why may sound a little crazy or far fetched, but…

I want to bring my husband home from his backbreaking job. I mean that in a sort of literal sense. He hurt his back a few months ago and been home since. He’s drawing short-term disability because of it. He wants to start a t-shirt business, and I wanted to do that, too. So I figured we could do it together.

I also don’t want to work in the corporate world. I m almost finished with college, though. So in case the stickers don’t work out, I can return to corporate. I want to show my kids that anything is possible because my girls’ dad is filling them with a bunch of crap that’s going to get them buried in debt by the time they’re 19.

My ultimate why is because I want to make something out of myself. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll have my own line of stickers and t-shirts. Yesterday, someone from Amazon contacted me and offered me to be part of their B2B program, which less than 1% of sellers get to be part of. She thinks I have tons of potential to get my name out there and really grow.

The noise is what was freaking me out, but I learned that’s normal.

I tried your suggestion and turned the blade to a 3, the force at 4, speed at 4, and 2 passes. It didn’t destroy my sheet this time, but you can see the cut lines on the back of the sheet. It’s perfect cuts, though. I just don’t think I should send this sheet to my customer. If she grabs it the wrong way, her finger will go right through the paper where the cut lines are.

So now, I have to figure out if it’s the blade or the force that’s too high. This design has a ton of triangles to cut, so yeah, lots of corners.

    Thanks!

The only reason I started with those settings was because I watched one of your videos on YouTube about getting paper from Online Labels, and I figured I’d start there just to see. The first page I did was perfect, but there weren’t very many corners. The sheet I just tried has a lot of turns and corners.

I’ll try calibrating and different settings, but the only thing I’m worried about is waste. Because of the Cricut, I’ve wasted like 20 sheets so far. Now, I know that’s going to be a given, but is there a way to do this without wasting so much ink and paper? And what settings do you recommend starting with, if any? I’m only asking because you have a ton of experience with this machine.

I was afraid to push print using one of those options because I didn’t want it to actually print. Good to know. Thank you!

So I went to do it, and my screen doesn’t look like that. I’m attaching a photo to show what mine looks like and to show that I don’t have the option to save as a PDF. Looks like I may have to upgrade.

Ah, gotcha. I’m brand new to the Erin Condren planners. That’s okay. I’ll just measure them and use the measurements. I got like 5 different planners, lol. Thanks!

My Erin Condren planners came today, but they aren’t the same sizes as your boxes. The 1.5 width is the same, but the 2.0 or 1.90 is not the same. Did the planners change?

That’s what I’ve been doing, but I can’t upload my patterns unless I have the upgraded version. I can put my patterns on there, but the offset doesn’t work. That’s why I’m hoping the designer edition is just a one-time $50 fee, not recurring monthly. We’ll see. I’ll have the machine in a couple of hours.

I can’t get the offset lines unless it’s a solid color. Since the ones I need to redo have patterns, there’s just going to be a color on the offset instead of the pattern. My Silhouette will be here today and I’ll have the free month of designer addition so I’ll be able to upload all of my patterns to use.
